So mrpants and I went down to the beach for the 4th. We had a lovely evening with the secret squirrel, her husband, moldypenny and shinybeerdragon. The moldypennies have super cute and well behaved dogs. They also have some amazing property and a beautiful house. They have fun paths through woods in the back of their place and I very much envy them. The secret squirrel has completed the stem wall phase of building her house. I didn't get the chance to see that yet, but I'm hoping to next time I'm down.

We also went and saw the mayhem and chaos that is the beach during the 4th. Crazy, crazy madness. It was pretty cool though. Mrpants hadn't seen a Washington 4th yet, and the beach is a fine specimen of the madness. He got to see the firemen, police and emt's threading their way through the crowds to put out fires, contain fires and help the injured/stupid. He go to see all the crazies standing on the roof of their cars, whilst shooting fireworks off above the crowds. We got to see fireworks up and down the beach from Northhead to the O.P. He also got to see the dunemachine. The firetruck that climbs over all the dunes. It's a big, ol' monster of a thing.

Earlier in the day, we went to a lavender farm with my mom and her partner. They had a cool place. There were different kinds of lavenders to play with, lots of edible flowers that the tourguide provided us with (did you know that you can eat daylily petals? And that they are slightly sweet?). They had chickens and a neat little gazebo and a old boat with a painting studio set up and a treehouse that scared the bejesus out of me. We ended up buying a two lavender starts (one regular, one white). It's very pretty.

That's all the news!

I don't know why a treehouse would scare someone who jumped out of a plane at 10,000 feet!
Glad you had fun!

Thanks for coming to our house, it makes us feel very grown-up to have people "come over for drinks", and we must do it more often.
