Our Annual Coast Trip (tm) was fantastic, as usual. Our newest house rental was super choice, and included fluffy, comfy, nice sized beds for all, a large kitchen, a huge space, a pool table, giant tvs and couches, a hot tub and an amazing two-story view of the beach. Many photos at flickr.

Yesterday, my 2nd period class requested watching the inauguration. We put it on the big screen and listened to the swearing in. The kids were super excited, and several shushed the rest of the class when the swearing in ceremony started. I looked around my classroom and realized that, years ago (after becoming of age), only four kids in the classroom would have been allowed to vote. How weird is that? There are only four white males in my 2nd period... and now that I think about it, one of them moved here from Russia when he was tiny. I don't know if he would have been given citizenship back then. Pretty amazing.

Our band marched in the Inauguration Day parade. I finally got to see them march around 3:45pm or so. I'm excited to start harassing the band kids, band leaders and band kids' parents about photos for yearbook. What an amazing page that would make.

I was so proud to hear about the EHS band going to Washington... they work hella hard and they deserve it. So cool.
