A couple of weird things to today. My school plays song snippets during passing time, in a vain attempt to get kids to recognize that it's time to get to class. Today, they were playing something was neither the Beach Boys nor Celine Dion. After the first snippet, one of the secretaries got on the intercom and announced, "If you are enjoying the music today, please thank Mr.____(english teacher). This is his band, and he has cds for sale in his room if you want one."

Gah? Are we hawking the products of teachers' second jobs now? Avon is on sale in the math teacher's room. The pe teacher will be available for landscaping consultation after school.... I mean really! So weird.

One of my favorite kids (SB) was out for three days this week. Apparently he was climbing and got a blood clot, which moved into his heart. He was in the hospital for three days. So scary. He took many photos of himself in the hospital bed with his cell phone and showed to me saying, "Look how metal I am!"

And now for something completely different. (stealing lines from Monty Python and video clips from BoingBoing.)
