clumsygirl: art + craft + tomfoolery

Mrpants and I went out on a semi-date night last night. We went and had happy hour goodness at the lovely Pambiche. Mrpants had not yet been there. Pambiche serves delicious Cuban food in a tiny, tiny space. We ordered a variety of items, so we could try all the new and exciting things Pambiche had to offer. We tried both maduros and tostones (respectively...both ripe and green, fried plantains). Mrpants preferred the maduros. I preferred the tostones, especially with banana ketchup. We also had a small plate of yuca con mojo, which is cassava root w/ garlicky sauce. mmmm.... very tasty. We tried both the shellfish empanada and the spinach y cheese empanada. I preferred the spinach y cheese. There were also yam frituras and shrimp croquetas to try. I had a lovely drink that was a combination of sparkling wine and pineapple juice. Mrpants tried a Brazilian black beer which was absolutely delicious. He was so impressed. It's just so colorful and cozy in the restaurant. We arrived early, so seating was no problem for us. It was getting a little bit crowded, with several large parties arriving as we left. I don't think I'd try to get more than a party of 4 together to eat here together, unless it was warm outside.

After the delicious Cuban yummies, we stopped by Staccato Gelato and had some dessert. I tried the caramel swirl and peanutbutter fudge. Mrpants had the always delicious and creamy pistachio (which really is my favorite), a very hazelnutty hazelnut and a very impressive lemon. The lemon was sooooo lemony. It made my mouth pucker and twist. Wow. I love the polka dots on the walls there. It's an awfully cute, little place.

afterwards, I went home to knit and mrpants had to get ready to go back to work for another overnight vesta adventure. He arrived home just as my alarm was going off this morning. le sigh...

such is life.
