I've been doing some thinking about summer again. My sis is taking mrpants and I to Japan for two weeks in August. I'm super, super excited. It's someplace that we've both always wanted to go. Mrpants has been doing some sporadic studying of his Japanese. I'm in charge of researching and obtaining tickets to Studio Ghibli. Sis is looking at purchasing plane tickets soon. It's gonna be rad.

On a more day to day basis, I've been fiddling around trying to put together some good examples for my Art Studio kids. I usually like to use student examples, as they fit the skill level appropriately. When I have to make the examples myself, I find that I either take the project too far and the kids think it looks too hard to do... or I don't take it far enough and they think it's little kid stuff. It's hard to find a balance, something that won't scare them but also will hold their interest. I've put some of my attempts up on flickr (as well as some of the previous projects from students). As it's portraits of kids, I'm not posting them here for the world to see... you'll have to be my flickr friend.

Two days until Spring Break!

Can I send some money with you to get something cool for the boy at Studio Ghibli? Something Totoro-ish?

Great student examples of the half-face project... my kids always love that one. You're making a pinhole camera? Do tell!!!
